Who We Are
Lesser Whitethroat (Sylvia curruca)
Rimrose Valley Country Park sits between Litherland, Seaforth and Great Crosby in the borough of Sefton in Merseyside. Formed by the reclaimation of abandoned allotments and recreational ground in 1993, the site now boasts two Sites of Local Biological Interest (SLBI) at Brook Vale and Fulwood Marsh, managed by Sefton Coast & Countryside Service.
In May 2010, ringers from the South-west Lancashire Ringing Group started ringing at Brook Vale Nature Reserve at the South-western end of Rimrose Valley Country Park. In October 2010, ringing commenced at Fulwood Marsh situated two kilometers to the North-east. Since ringing commenced on Rimrose Valley, there has been over 2500 birds ringed between the two sites, including significant numbers of Blackcap, Reed Warbler and Whitethroat as well as recording Spotted Flycatcher, Cetti's Warbler and Lesser Whitethroat.
Rimrose Ringers are a collection of ringers that study the avifauna of Rimrose Valley using ringing methods, nest monitoring and observations.
